ElementsGood morning, I am currently in Cuenca, Ecuador awaiting my exhibition titled "Elements". This
exhibition is opening on February 1, 2018 and will run for one month. We are having an opening at Galleria Miguel Ilescas on Calle Larga. The gallery is beautiful and the family who operate it are wonderful. Some of the photos on this site will be in the exhibition. If there is anything you are interested in please send me a note to me [email protected] and we can discuss it. Take care and enjoy this new year. Hasta Luego Susan

A beautiful sunny morning in Victoria and the Victoria Marathon is going on outside my home, so
thrilling to see all those vital runners going by. It reminds me of how thrilled I feel when I start a new painting and the excitement of choosing the size of the canvas and then the colours and then allowing the painting to flow through. I have had a few revelations this past year about the practice of painting. I feel so lucky to be able to do what I love and to share it with others. I am in the process of painting pieces for a show in Ecuador that I am having trouble titling. I wake up in the middle of the night and have a great title but by morning that inspiration has disappeared. Hopefully this week something will gel but really I still have a few months to come up with the right one. Today I am going to the country to do research for tomorrow when I will begin again to create physically. Today I am spiritually communing with nature, she is my muse. Have a lovely Thanksgiving weekend and may it be filled with love. Hello everyone, what an exciting painting week I have had. I feel exhausted tonight but in a good
way. I finished two small paintings and a large painting and started three others. I love to work on more than one canvas at a time for many reasons. #1. I am an impatient person and do not like to wait. #2. I love to have different painting ideas swirling around at the same time so that when one is percolating or a portion is drying I am able to play on the other canvas. #3. I am like a kid in a candy store and sometimes it is good to have choices of what to chose. I am off to regenerate for a couple of days and then back to the joy of creation. Have a wonderful weekend one and all. Good morning, so much water has passed under the bridge since I last blogged, where to start??
Our exhibition in Halifax went very well and from there I travelled to South America to Peru and Ecuador for two months. It was a bucket list trip that was finally achieved and exceeded my expectations. I have now been asked to exhibit in Cuenca, Ecuador in February of 2018. I imagine it is hard for those who do not paint to plan this far ahead but as an artist I must have the time to create the paintings. I have now started the series I will present in Cuena and I am excited to see where the rest of the series will take me. The exhibition will take place at Miquel Illescas Gallery in Cuenca, a beautiful space. I am also involved with a group of local Victoria artists and we are having an exhibition for the month of September in downtown Victoria at the Victoria Arts Council space on Fort Street. We are Group 216, four very diverse artists who work in the same building on Bridge Street. I am being inspired by spring at the moment and also exploring painting on paper, which I don't usually do but I am working through new ideas. The muse has been with me and guiding me with colour, shape and texture. Currently I have a feature at Serious Coffee in Cook Street Village for the month of April and during the month of May I have a feature at Second Crack Coffee on Bridge Street. Please come and have a look at some new paintings and enjoy coffee/tea or some wonderful treats. I look forward to all comments and please contact me with any interest in my new work. Happy Easter and Spring to all. Good morning, tomorrow our exhibition at Teichert Gallery opens called Land and Sea with myself and Jeanne Aisthorpe-Smith. This exhibition will run until September 30th. Please stop by at the gallery on Hollis Street in Halifax and have a gander. These are two images in the exhibition, both are by Susan Geddes and are 30 x 30....see you there
on September 10 between 2 and 4p.m. Good morning
I spent the end of last week painting and rehanging my studio space for the Integrate Festival next weekend. Please come down and have a look at my paintings in Suite 216A, Rock Bay Square. The event runs from 3-9 on the Saturday, hope to see you there. I am also in the process of sending my paintings off to Nova Scotia for the "Land, Sea and Sky" exhibition at Teichert Gallery for the month of September in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Photos to take and a list to be made plus boxes. An artist's life is full of wrapping and shipping and carrying paintings to different places, all in a days work. I personally enjoy all stages of the process and feel grateful that I have venues to exhibit my paintings. Enjoy this week and I hope to see some of you next weekend. "Sunshine came softly through my window today....." Hello everyone - I have been busy getting paintings ready for the Hotel Grand Pacific and they are now hanging up and I am pleased with how they look. I am attaching a few images for your viewing pleasure. I hope to see people in the hotel and to have visits with new people I meet. Have a superb July everyone. Intertidal Life, 10 x 10, Acrylic, $250.00Movement, 24 x 36, Acrylic $1210.00Good morning, I have now installed some of my paintings at Heart House in Victoria.
The Victoria Heart House is "your home away from home" for patients and their families who are about to undergo Open Heart Surgery or other cardiovascular procedures. I am hoping that my paintings lift the spirits of people staying there. |
